At haku kyoto, we are pleased to present the exhibition “ENYU” (円 縁 遠 / 融 遊 友 優), a collaborative project by Masaho Anotani and Kanoko Takaya.
This exhibition serves as a cross-border dialogue between two old friends whose creative roots trace back to their student days, and who now each continue their artistic practices within different natural environments.
Masaho Anotani creates works through a variety of approaches, drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings of Hyogo Prefecture.
Kanoko Takaya, based in Bali, Indonesia, similarly engages with nature—examining the symbiotic relationship between humans, nature, and the earth, while continuously exploring the embodiment of inner sensations.
(Takaya’s work in Bali involves intersecting with traditional arts, using tactile approaches such as sculpture, textiles, and mixed media to explore the connections between humans and nature, spirit and body.)
Both artists consistently confront the core intentions of their creative practices, engaging in expression from a state of selflessness.
(They immerse themselves in a state of egolessness, engaging in a dialogue with the images and sensations that lie deep within.)
Their work and artistic sensibilities, though wild in approach, evoke a direct reverence for nature and life itself, seemingly expressing a primitive aesthetic that touches upon the essence of existence.
From the forests of Hyogo to the tropical rainforests of Indonesia, the breath of creation arising from these two different lands resonates as if bound by invisible threads.
These two artists, creating in environments far from the city, remain in constant touch with the pulse of the earth and the cycles of the natural world.
The ancient spiritual sensibilities and “cosmos” (or chaos) that dwell in Anotani’s work encounter Takaya’s recent tactile expressions, sparking a new dimension of dialogue. The reverse is equally true.
This exhibition invites viewers into an experimental space where the creative processes of the two artists interweave, transcending boundaries.
The title “ENYU” is composed of multiple words that share the same pronunciation—each with distinct meanings:
ENYU（円 縁 遠 / 融 遊 友 優）
It consists of two sets of parallel words, each offering rich and layered interpretations.
haku kyotoでは、安野谷 昌穂、高屋 佳乃子による企画展 ”ENYU” (円 縁 遠 ／ 融 遊 友 優) を開催いたします。
本展は、創作の原点でもある学生時代からの旧友であり、現在はそれぞれ異なる自然環境の中で表現を続ける二人による、国境を越えた対話の場となります。
兵庫県の自然下で得たインスピレーションを元に様々なアプローチで創作を行う安野谷昌穂。
バリ・インドネシアで同じく自然下で、人と自然、大地の共生関係を見つめ、内なる感覚の具現化を探究し続ける高屋佳乃子。
（高屋は、バリ島において伝統芸術との交差を通じ、立体やテキスタイル、ミクストメディアを用いた触覚的なアプローチで、人と自然、精神と身体のつながりを探求しています。）
彼らは自身の創作の魂胆と常に対峙し、忘我の境地で表現を行っています。

二者の作品や作家性には、野生的なアプローチでありながら、自然や生命に対する直接的な敬意・生命の本質に触れるような感覚を想起させ、プリミティブな美意識を表現しているように思われます。
兵庫の森とインドネシアの熱帯雨林、二箇所の異なる土地から立ち上がる創造の息吹は、まるで目に見えない糸で結ばれるように共鳴し合う。
二人は、街中を離れた場所で、大地の鼓動と自然界の循環に触れ続けているのだ。
昌穂の作品に宿る日本古来の精神性やコスモ（カオス）は、佳乃子が近年取り組み続ける自身の触覚表現と出会い、新たな次元の対話を生み出す。また、逆も然りと言える。
本展では、二人の作家が織りなす、境界を超えた創作の実験場に立ち入ることを目的としています。
展覧会タイトルは、エンユウを呼ばれる様々な意味を成す言葉から成り立っています。
本展のタイトル「ENYU（円 縁 遠 ／ 融 遊 友 優）」は、二つの並立する語句から成り立っています。
